The Challenge

The I+T Livestock Simulation Environment trains students at agricultural technical schools through production challenges. The platform was already live, built by another team on WordPress, with 27 plugins and a custom plugin for the challenges. Once the school year started, problems surfaced: duplicate sign-up emails arriving in English, teachers who couldn't see their students, certificates that wouldn't download, and a management team with no documentation for editing content or creating users.

Our Solution

We audited WordPress and every plugin: versions, licenses and pending updates. We also reviewed the code of the simulator's plugin to understand how profiles link to schools, classes and teachers. Based on that, we rebuilt the sign-up flow: email templates translated and configured, WordPress's duplicate email removed, and bulk CSV imports tested. We pinpointed the inconsistent profile fields that were hiding students, and we ruled out the certificate bug, which came from old test profiles. We also added a "log in as user" option so the support team could reproduce each issue. Every change was validated in the development environment before going to production, and we cross-checked the technical work against an analysis of teachers' and students' experience.

Results & Impact

  • A usage and infrastructure diagnosis with concrete improvement priorities.
  • User sign-ups sorted out: a single email, in Spanish, with the right access link.
  • An autonomous management team, with guides for editing content and creating users.
  • The platform kept up to date until handover, plus a roadmap for alert-based monitoring and code versioning.
